The Water Cycle

Due to different and particular weather conditions, the water on our planet can be found in their various states: solid, liquid and gas.

We call the hydrological cycle, or the water cycle, the changing state of water in nature.

The main stages of water cycle are called evaporation, condensation, precipitation, and infiltration.

Evaporation

Evaporation is the physical process by which a liquid passes slowly to the vapor state at room temperature.

The sun shines and warms the oceans, seas, and lakes.
The water evaporates and water vapor rises into the atmosphere, forming clouds.

Condensation

Condensation is the physical process by which a gaseous substance changes to a liquid state.

As the air is cooling, water vapor will be condensed.

Precipitation

Precipitation is the physical process by which water falls from the clouds in the form of rain, snow or sleet.

Infiltration

The water falls from the clouds, and part of it penetrates in the soil, forming ground water.

This process is called infiltration. Most of the water goes back to rivers, lakes and oceans.
